Experience South Carolina

Heritage Shores Nature Preserve

Park in North Myrtle Beach

Heritage Shores Nature Preserve, located near the Cherry Grove Boat Ramp on 53rd Avenue North, is a wonderful place to get away from the loud beaches and enjoy some natural scenery and wildlife.

Created in 2007, the seven-acre park contains walking trails, picnic tables, and beautiful views of the marsh. The trail is 1 mile long and is open to visitors year-round with no charge! Feel free to bring the family and pets (if they’re on a leash) and enjoy the nice South Carolina weather.

The preserve is home to many animals such as deer, foxes, birds, and more. As you walk through the trail, you will encounter many signs describing the wildlife, plants (watch out for the cacti!), and history of the park.

If you enjoy fishing, bring some fishing rods and fish off of one of the piers at the preserve. This includes summer flounder, red drum, sea trout, sheepshead, and whiting. Anglers may also consider kayaking in the Cherry Grove marsh.
