Grace & Grit

Grits is a quintessential South Carolina dish popular among locals and out-of-towners alike. In the capable hands of a creative chef, the humble grits transforms into a delectable gourmet treat. Chef Frank Kline of Grace & Grit adds flavor and excitement to grits by using ingredients that highlight the local seafood and produce. No one tinkers with grits the way Chef Frank does and the result is a burst of flavorful grits creation that’s comforting and exciting. Get started with the Grit Flight and you’ll be a grits believer (if you aren’t one yet).

But grits is not the only thing going at Grace & Grit. Their menu is packed full of seafood and Lowcountry cuisine cooked with passion and flair. What’s great about ordering the Chef’s Creations is that you choose the seafood you want and how you want it cooked and presented. Pan-roasted, blackened, Dijon-glazed, “succotashed” or Rockefeller style—just take your pick!

The Specials change daily, so that’s something to look forward to. And it’s never dry in Grace & Grit because of their extensively curated bourbon. Enjoy a drink or two on their landscaped patio or their impeccably designed indoor dining room.

Coleman Public House

Coleman Public House comes across as an upscale pub with fancy food, but there’s nothing uppity about it. While it may not be your typical noisy pub, it still has friendly and casual atmosphere where you can chill and enjoy some of the best burgers in all of Mount Pleasant. The food is not only visually appealing but it’s also lip-smacking delicious.

You can never go wrong with their California burger and Caprese burger, but if you want some Lowcountry grub, the shrimp & grits, Po’Boy sandwich, and fried green tomato Benedict are highly recommended. They also offer vegetarian and vegan options. In fact, you can substitute beef with vegetarian patty.

The beer selection has a diverse mix of local brews, strong hoppy beers, and international ales. The wine list is limited but pretty much all the great wine countries are represented and that’s all that matters. We’re more of the frozen pina colada kind of drinkers anyway. If you go on a pub crawl in Mount Pleasant, don’t skip Coleman Public House or you’ll regret it later.

Red's Ice House

Cold beer and fresh seafood are a combo that rarely disappoints. At Red’s Ice House, it gets even better. They bring their seafood “A” game to the table and put a new twist on old-time favorites. Start with BBQ bacon wrapped scallops or smoked BBQ pork nacho to whet your appetite. Then sink your teeth in their legendary smokehouse sandwich and lobster mac and cheese. We guarantee you’ll be doing chef kisses all around.

If you’re not in the mood for pulled pork or beef burger, you can always make your burger a chicken sandwich. Better yet, feast on The Bubba—a two-dozen shrimp fare served in four savory flavors. That, or 10 pieces of smoked wings with lip-smacking sauce. If you can’t decide, try their smoker sampler where you can try little nibbles of pulled pork, smoked wings, and sausage served with pineapple slaw and fries.

And because there’s always room for desserts, cap off the delicious meal and dig into their key lime pie and Hershey bar pie dessert jar. Everyone leaves Red’s Ice House with a full stomach.

Locals is not just a sushi bar, it’s also a sports bar and a pub, so there’s tacos and “not sushi” meals to satisfy your craving for pub grub. Wash them all down with an ice-cold beer, a cocktail, or wine while you watch a sports game or a live band. At Locals, it’s always a win-win sushi situation.

Vicious Biscuit

Biscuits are king in this family-run restaurant specializing in, well, biscuits! The biscuit choices are fun and creative, and the Vicious Benny will always have a special place in our heart and in our stomach. For those who want their biscuits extra spicy, the Flame Thrower is waiting to scorch your tongue with jalapenos and Frank’s Red Hot.

Flaky, buttery biscuits are a Southern comfort food that go well with gravy. They don’t need much else. The biscuits are perfect as they are. But Vicious Biscuit manages to convince us that the humble biscuit can have its modern twist and still taste as good and just as comforting as the biscuits of old. Arguably, the best biscuits place in all of Mount Pleasant. Fight us!

Burton's Grill & Bar

Burton’s Grill & Bar first opened its door to the hungry public in Hingham, MA and it found its way to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Burton’s can be described as upscale dining because of the amazing food they offer, but clearly, it has a casual environment that’s very warm and welcoming.

Steaks and seafood are their specialties and we’re particularly smitten by their pistachio salmon, Reuben sandwich, and the famous softshell crab. The hefty portions will leave you full and satisfied.

Even on repeat visits, the food is consistently delicious, the service is excellent, and the plating enhances the appearance of the dishes. Burton’s consistency is what makes people come back for more.
