Mexican Restaurants in Greenville

When planning your South Carolina trip, Greenville is a great way to get it started. Nestled against the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this city is a spectacular adventure waiting to be unlocked. Head to a state park or try out their beautiful hiking trails. More importantly, sample their top-notch restaurants. If you’re in for the adventure, here are a few Mexican restaurants to fill you up while you enjoy Greenville, South Carolina.

Las Meras Tortas

Las Meras Tortas is one of Greenville’s favorite Mexican restaurants. You can find them along White Horse Road. This taqueria may seem unassuming, but inside it is quaint, homey, and worth your stop. Las Meras Tortas has fast service and large portions to fill you up. If you want to experience south of the border dining in Greenville, Las Meras Tortas is the spot for you.

They have tortilla tacos, loaded huaraches, huge quesadillas, and some of the best tortas outside of Mexico. If you’ve never had tortas before, we recommend you try the La Norteña, which has both grilled cheese and Oaxaca cheese. We also recommend sampling their Suadero tacos — two soft shells and slow-cooked fried beef.

Viva Villa Mexican Grill

Viva Villa Mexican Grill is a crowd-favorite in Greenville. They have two locations; one in Downtown Greenville off of East North Street and another on South Main Street.  Both serve the same fresh, quality Mexican meals served with warm and friendly service. No matter which restaurant you go to, you’ll leave happy and satisfied.

Viva Villa Mexican Grill prides itself on using only fresh ingredients to create hefty portions without sacrificing quality. Try out their Burrito Verde — a whopping 12-inch flour tortilla chockfull of tender, juicy pork, chile verde sauce, beans, and rice, then topped with tomatoes, lettuce, guacamole, cheese, and sour cream. Leave room for their decadent burrito cheesecake and churros.

Sabroso Mexican Grille

For those who don’t know, Sabroso roughly translates to “tasty.” That is precisely what Sabroso Mexican Grille serves: tasty Mexican favorites. You can find this restaurant and its name in large letters a little bit off Woodruff Road. Keep in mind that Sabroso is quite popular, so you may have to wait a bit. But trust us when we say it’s worth it.

Sabroso Mexican Grille serves some of the best enchiladas in Greenville. Their Enchiladas Montadas is a must-have. Two pieces of cheese and onion enchiladas topped with a fried egg and enchilada sauce, with refried beans and Mexican rice on the side. They also have the unique Taco Salad, a crispy flour bowl filled with either Sabroso Chicken or taco beef with the classic taco accouterment.

Taco Casa

Taco Casa has been a Greenville staple since it first opened its doors in 1985. You can find their name on its bright red roof along Pleasantburg Drive. Taco Casa has been proudly family-owned and operated from the start, and you’ll be treated like family here. They serve quality and authentic Mexican cuisine at an affordable price.

Taco Casa is the house of good tacos, and the Taco el Grande is proof of that — soft, steamed flour tortilla with beans wrapped around a crispy taco shell filled to the brim with beef, sour cream, mild sauce, lettuce, and cheese. They also have bomb nachos like Lola’s Chicken Nachos, a plate of chips topped with nacho cheese and jalapenos, and marinated all-white chicken.

La Parrilla Mexican Restaurant

La Parrilla Mexican Restaurant is another Mexican joint in Greenville that’s worth your stop. If you’re cruising by Market Point Drive, you’ll see their classic taqueria facade. They’re even harder to miss at night, as they are lit up like a fiesta. They’ve been serving Mexican favorites since 1994, and they’ve been perfecting their craft ever since.

La Parrilla serves primarily Mexican favorites, like burritos, tacos and nachos. Their Chimichangas, however, are something special. They also serve the unique and tasty Mexican Cheeseburger, served with lettuce, avocado, jalapeños, bacon, tomato, and American cheese. La Parrilla also does catering, so if you need a fiesta in your backyard, you know who to call.

4 Tacos Locos

4 Tacos Locos is an old-timey, rustic taqueria on Augusta Road. The location may not look like anything special on the outside, but that’s no reason to overlook it. Once inside 4 Tacos Locos, you’ll find that it’s a relaxing, homey joint that puts you in the mood to kick back and eat your heart out.

As their name suggests, 4 Tacos Locos serve the people of Greenville their crazy good tacos, among other Mexican staples. Their Alambre taco is a mix of steak, bacon, chicken, Mexican sausage, and veggies. They also have vegetarian options like the Vegetariano Taco, filled with black beans, corn, avocado, and red and green bell peppers.

Armando’s Burritos

Armando’s Burritos is a little hole-in-the-wall along Pine Knoll Drive. If you’re looking for bells and whistles, you won’t find any here. Armando’s only serves honest Mexican cuisine in a no-frills atmosphere. This makes this joint a must-visit if you’re looking for a quiet meal with excellent food.

One of the things that you must order at Armando’s is their Birria Tacos. Once you try it, you’ll understand why all the people who’ve tasted it came back for seconds and thirds. Remember to leave lots of room for their moist, scrumptious, and just overall delicious Tres Leches Cake. If you’re looking for an intimate and quiet meal with friends and family, Armando’s Burritos is the joint for you.

Holy Mōlli Mexican Fusion

Holy Mōlli Mexican Fusion is a more modern choice if you’re craving Mexican cuisine in Greenville. This restaurant offers a non-traditional version of your favorites. You can find this hidden gem along Woodruff Drive. If you’re up for something more hip and modern, then this is the joint for you.

Holy Mōlli serves authentic Mexican cuisine in a simple and quite minimalistic menu — six mains and six ways to enjoy it. First, choose your main ingredient — you can get chicken, steak, cochinita, spicy chick, shrimp, and veggies. Then, decide how you want to enjoy it: a taco, burrito, bowl, salad, nachos, or quesadilla. If you’re feeling adventurous, they also have Mexican sushi on the menu. Simple, delicious, and refreshing — that’s the Holy Mōlli Mexican Fusion way.
