Sushi Restaurants in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach is one of the most famous destinations on the South Carolina coast. This beachfront town receives over 19 million visitors every year, and it’s not hard to see why. This town has adapted and evolved to have something for everyone, so surely you’ll find something you love here. For the many sushi lovers out there, we’ve compiled a list of what we consider to be some of the best sushi restaurants in Myrtle Beach.

ART Burger Sushi Bar

ART Burger Sushi Bar is a unique spot that sprouted in Myrtle Beach and has led a loyal following ever since. This restaurant boasts artistic decor that mixes industrial tones with beach-themed driftwood art. A lively bar with a nitrogen machine casts a cool, drifting fog that accentuates the youth of the restaurant.

ART Burger Sushi Bar has all your sushi needs and then some. They have classics like the California Roll and the Volcano Roll, but they have notable specials like The Zack Attack, a deep-fried roll of spicy tuna, avocado, eel, tamago, and cream cheese then topped with spicy mayo and eel sauce. The best part of the sushi menu here is the Omakase, which literally translates to “I’ll leave it up to you,” where the chef will create something special for you.

Lil Tokyo

Lil Tokyo is a convenient place to dine in after a day of fun and shopping on Myrtle Beach. This restaurant has a sit-down hibachi experience, but the sushi area is a much calmer, more personal experience that lets you relax and unwind after a long day. This fits the sushi experience perfectly – simple, artistic, and best enjoyed in peace.

Lil Tokyo serves up sushi classics like the California Roll, Philadelphia Roll, and Rainbow Roll. If you’re up for something different, try the Spider Roll — soft-shell crab tempura roll with masago, avocado, krab, and cucumber then topped with eel sauce. They also have sashimi, nigiri, and riceless options on the menu. This is a great spot if you want a nice, quiet meal with the family.

CO Sushi

CO Sushi is a hidden gem that has minimalistic and chic decor. This restaurant is quite sophisticated and is further accentuated by the all-black clothing of the servers and bartenders. There are many seating options here, from the main bar, sushi bar, community booths, high-top tables, and a seasonal patio. This way, you really don’t have to worry about being seated despite the restaurant’s popularity.

You can get your favorite sushi fix at CO. They have classic rolls, and they also have house specialties that are worth a try. Their makimonos are crowd favorites, like the Blossom, a spicy tuna cucumber roll topped with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, avocado, shrimp, kimchi sauce, and green onion. They also have Asian noodles and sake if you’re looking to warm yourself up.

King Kong Sushi

King Kong Sushi is where the cool kids go to enjoy their sushi fix. This restaurant has a dark hardwood interior that oozes class. The Broadway at the Beach location has a beautiful back porch with views of Lake Broadway, which makes this a more frequented tourist spot than the Carolina Forest location. The upside is, the food is great at both places.

King Kong Sushi serves humongous ape-sized specialty rolls. The crowd-favorite 12-piece Tuna Mania roll is a play on the traditional spicy tuna roll that’s wrapped in tuna tataki. Then, it’s torched and topped with Japanese mayonnaise. They also have fresh Sashimi, Nigiri, Maki, and awesome Riceless Maki on the menu. If you’re looking for a full meal, they also serve Asian entrees and hibachi dishes, desserts, and a full bar.

SOHO Steak & Sushi Bar

SOHO Steak & Sushi Bar has been serving the people of the Grand Strand for almost two decades. They’ve adopted an international menu to cater to all the people that come to stay or visit Myrtle Beach. SOHO is a bit more upscale and chic than most but delivers on the promises their ambiance and brand makes.

SOHO has a wide menu of sushi and sashimi platters and combos for you to choose from. We suggest sampling the Myrtle Beach Special Roll, filled with smoked salmon, scallions, cream cheese, then wrapped in the whole cucumber. There’s also the Super Tempura Roll, which is tempura shrimp, tempura asparagus, tempura scallion, then wrapped with seaweed outside. They have classic rolls and fresh sashimi, too. Make sure to give SOHO a stop whenever you’re in town.

The Grumpy Monk

The Grumpy Monk is the local watering hole you want to be in when you’re visiting Myrtle Beach. They’ve got an awesome selection of craft beer, and fresh sushi daily. They have a lot of great specialty rolls that you absolutely need to try. They’ve also got traditional sushi rolls if you’re looking for something more familiar.

The Grumpy Monk’s house specialty rolls are too many to mention in a single article, yet all of them are delicious regardless. You must try The Boss, which has spicy big eye tuna, kani, cucumber, then topped with more tuna, avocado, filet mignon, tobiko, and The Grumpy Monk’s spicy mayo and demi-glaze. Yes, it tastes as delicious as it sounds. If that’s not enough, sample the Taste of Explosion Roll — CAB ribeye, bacon, provolone cheese, jalapenos then topped with filet mignon and avocado, and finally, finished with the three monketeer sauce.

YAMATO

YAMATO is a Japanese steakhouse that has been serving the people of Myrtle Beach since 1995. The restaurant features dark, rich colors and Asian-themed decorations, such as a tori gate and Buddha statues. They’ve got hibachi seating options, but what draws them apart is their sushi bar.

YAMATO has classic sushi rolls, but of course, we’re taking a dive into what makes their sushi menu unique. You must try the Yami Yami roll, a yummy, lightly fried white fish, crab, and cucumber roll. If you’re looking for fusion, you must sample the Beef Asparagus Maki, which is asparagus that’s wrapped with thinly sliced and tender NY Strip, cooked in teriyaki sauce, then topped with sesame seeds.

Wicked Tuna

Wicked Tuna is one of the Grand Strand’s best waterfront dining experiences. They pride themselves as one of the best places to get fresh seafood, sushi, and steaks. Their master sushi chefs carefully prepare each slice of sashimi and roll of sushi as beautifully and carefully as one can.

You must grab a piece of the Maryland Roll, chockful of spicy tuna, cucumber, tempura shrimp, kani, blue crab mix, Maryland crab cakes, then finished with a sweet glaze, spicy mayo, cream cheese, masago, and scallions. Wicked Tuna catches their own fish in their own boats, so you know that the fish that go into your sushi is clean, sanitary, and most of all, fresh and delicious.
